| Quote-Unquote |
"From the day when people began to see me as a painter, responsibility came upon me to respond to the feelings of people at the grassroots of the society as also to delve deep into the realities of life around me.
To express this reality sometimes I have to reorient a particular set of sense-data, received through normal perception, to create an image which does not bear one-to-one correspondence with the image formed by a naive man, receiving a similar set of sense-data.
To express my authentic feelings about the reality, I have to interpret it, I have to conceptualise it. The perceived reality gets transformed in the laboratory of my mind. Then, I bring this out on the canvas. This may not conform to the native realist's view
point. But, to remain true to myself, I cannot but express my inner being this way."
