Academic Programmes |
| The
Academic Programmes would be of various kinds: |
a)
Seminars, workshops, conference etc |
|
The
main emphasis will be on propagating the message
of Sri Sathya Sai in relation to expansion of
one’s awareness, practising the tenets of one’s
own religion in its true spirit and essence, at
the same time grasping the essential unity of
the central spiritual message of all faiths, practicing
the five fundamental human values on one’s daily
life whatever be one’s profession and seeing with
utmost clarity that all these values emanate directly
from whatever faith one sought to practice.
|
b)
Short Courses |
| The
division would organize short courses for the following
type of individuals: |
|
Short
course for Master Trainers:
|
| This
course would be for selected, handpicked individuals
who represent important organizations. Here the
emphasis will be on giving a basic content about
the main tenets of different faiths, how there is
a fundamental unity in their apparent diversity,
how the expansion of awareness and the realization
of a spiritual force behind all the apparent cosmic
phenomena are the central themes of every religion,
the meaning and scope of each fundamental human
value, how each of them directly emanates form the
major world religions and how values can be easily
and profitably practiced in our daily lives, so
as to enjoy expanding and enduring happiness. |
| Short
course for Teacher Educators: |
| This
course would be meant for the senior faculty of
Teacher Training Institutions. This faculty would
have to train the in-service and newly recruited
teachers. Here the emphasis would be, apart from
the general content which would follow the design
of the course for Master Trainers, on the pedagogy
of teaching the fundamental human values to children
of varying ages and backgrounds in the classroom.
They would be exposed to the manner in which the
teaching of values can be integrated into the teaching
of each subject. Educational software packages developed
in the School would be shared with them. |
| Short
Course for Opinion Leaders in Every Segment of Society: |
| Here
the target audience would be groups of opinion leaders
drawn from different professions who would like
to use their time to propagate the fundamental values
among their colleagues in the profession. They would
be told, apart from the general exposure, about
the case studies of successful professionals who
did well in spite of having practised the human
values, or even because they had the courage to
practise the human values in their daily lives. |
c)
Diploma Courses: |
| Diploma
Courses on Human Values and Life Skills |
| We
will make a beginning with a Diploma Course on Human
Values and Life Skills. The syllabus for the Course
will be drawn up after detailed interaction with
the Indian Council for Philosophical Research, the
University Grant Commission and the National Institute
for Educational Planners and Administrators, Army
Institute of National Integration, etc. The persons
who complete the One-year Diploma Course will be
ideally suited to run these courses in the universities
and colleges around the country. |
| Diploma
Course on Inter-faith Harmony: |
| A
second Diploma Course that could be considered after
some time is the one on Inter-faith Harmony. This
would be a 3-month Course for those who are in university
departments of comparative religion and philosophy,
schools of divinity run by individuals faiths for
their preachers, pracharaks,maulvis,
pandits, pastors and the like. The idea is
to help them relate their own religious beliefs
to the wider context of inter-faith harmony. They
will be enabled to be better preachers of their
religious doctrines, but at the same time teach
their respective laity the need to respect all other
faiths as representing the same fundamental truths
though couched in somewhat different language. |
d)
Degree Courses |
| In
our long-term perspective we have in mind the need
to run two Degree courses, one on Human Values and
Life Skills and the other on Inter-faith Harmony.
The duration of these courses will be kept at three
years and the course content will be developed as
we go along. The Degree programme could be run by
affiliation to the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher
Learning, if the International Centre is approved
as a Campus of the deemed university. |
e) Research |
| There
will be a continuing programme of research in all
the three proposed Divisions of the Academic Wing.
This research will be conducted by and under the
guidance of the Professors and Associated Professors
in these Divisions. There will be a provision for
a grant of Fellowships to Indian and Foreign scholars,
some of whom may also be accommodated as Scholars
in Residence. |
